Children museum

The guiding idea for Children Museum in Louisville (CML) was to create an inspirational space where children will develop imagination, learn about the world, nature, art, science, etc. Basic circle form as a symbol of wholeness and infinity would embed joyful and dynamic world, children’s world. In front of the museum’s main entrance is a vibrant place for gathering with a variety of activities including vehicular access with two lifts to garage level and parking bike area. In the CML basement is a parking garage with 137 parking spaces. Vertical communications throughout the museum are with a continuous circular ramp, surrounded with aquariums on ground and second floor and stairs plus glass elevators. CML will house information desk, auditorium, cloakroom, cafe, administrative areas, toilets and storage on the ground floor. Exhibition spaces, workshops covered with different textile and tactile materials and diversified through all levels according to children age, while on the roof are facilities for all visitors, including a striking restaurant with a panorama view. Each floor of the museum represents one circle, and the levels are offset to each other, forming the outdoor green terraces where children can learn about gardening and getting familiar with nature and life itself. Floor plans of the museum are adaptable with movable circular partitions due to the everyday purpose, exhibitions, workshops, and other needs.
